Musicians
I guess it's only proper that I do offer a word of thanks, and I may use several devlogs to thank a few people.
Since Luna's Father is pretty much a one-man project, the code for the underlying engine was written by me, the scripts were written by me, the story was written by me, well, and a lot more stuff was written by me.
And although I am a bit of a musician myself, I'm not really a good one, and it would also be too much cover all the music.
So that's why I need to offer a word of thanks to all musicians whose music had a license allowing me to use it in the game, as without them that part of Luna's Father would not be possible.
And the ones I used must pieces from are Nihilore and Eric Matyas.
The music from Nihilore can be downloaded from https://www.nihilore.com/ and the music by Eric Matyas can be downloaded from https://soundimage.org/. Somehow it's a challenge on its own to browse their websites to find the right track for a specific location or boss fight or whatever. And even when the track is not suitable for the scene I need it for, I can just enjoy listening to the music in general.
Now Eric Matyas in particular can be a good pick if you need short loopable tunes, like combat tracks or dungeons where the music is regularly interrupted by random encounters and stuff. He has many of those. There's a reason I used his "Snake Trance" for random encounters in both Luna's Father and in Star Story II.
Now please note, only idiots believe that it's a mortal sin to use other people's stuff in your own, but even the pros are reliant on 3rd party stuff these days. But be sure to credit them properly and TO CHECK OUT THEIR LICENSE CONDITIONS to see if you are actually allowed to use their stuff and if so under which conditions.
I would like to encourage all who make free assets like music and graphics to keep on doing it, you're not only doing me a favor, but many people who, like me, develop games by themselves, and nobody is able to cover all the aspects all by themselves (at least not in projects as big as an RPG, which is often underestimated). One request though. Make sure you cover your license conditions well. I've rejected too much stuff already simply because the license conditions were either vague, or not even listed on the respective websites at all, and I personally like to avoid legal trouble.
