Free Cell now included in House Of Cards
House Of Cards » Devlog
A new release and some notes.
- First of all, House of Cards does now also support Free Cell. It was one of games I was most fearful for, due to the moving card rules that Free Cell upholds, but in the end, things did turn out easier than I could ever imagine.
- I've added showing a fancy suit symbol with the value of the card to Free Cell, Klondike and Spider. I took this measure most of all for Free Cell, as the suits can depending on the deck you play with, lesser visible, and especially in Free Cell this was very important. Adding this feature to Klondike and Spider was merely an easy thing to do.
- Tri Peaks was discovered to be a game designed by somebody not too long ago (Robert Hogue in 1989), and thus the concept could still be copyrighted not allowing me to implement this game (70 years (in Europe. 90 in the US) after Hogue's death can never have been past by now. I don't even know if he's still alive or not) . Since an asset that do seem to infringe copyrights without my knowledge, could easily be replaced/removed, I can risk it there, but with an entire game, it took me a week (average) to implement each game (only Memory which only took me one day), and that makes that I don't want to put loads of work into something I gotta remove later. That is why I'll replace the Tri-Peaks with Golf, which was a nice concept to add anyway. I found a huge list of many solitaire games, and don't expect me to add them all (that would simply take too long), but I'll definitely dig through this list and try to find out which games do have rules I can easily understand and translate into Scyndi scripts. Of course, if you know any good solitaire games, I'd like to hear about them.
- A very vital bug has been discovered in Klondike, which I hope to fix in the next update (so right now it's still there). When you drag multiple cards from one stack to another, and undo that drag move, the cards will move to the original stack in reversed order. Be aware of that one. I already noted this one on my issue tracker.
Now I do have some short term and long term plans for House of Cards.
- For the long term I'd like to add as many solitaire card games as I can, so if you know of any good ones that should definitely be part of House of Cards, let me know. But my focus will soon return first to Luna's Father. That game has been left alone far too long.
- Before returning to Luna's Father I will first implement Golf and Tônkâr bâ sol, as that was the plan anyway (well, with Golf replacing Tri-Peaks).
- And I also plan to make you successfully finish any game of House of Cards will get you extra points for the Medal system which can influence the signal system in Star Story II (depending on signal as they are not all linked to the medal system), and Anna's Temple in both Luna's Father and The Fairy Tale REVAMPED. The Medal Bonus Dungeons in both Dyrt and Luna's Father will also take these into account when it comes to whether or not the gate to those dungeons opens. This is pretty easy to implement, anyway.
And well, that's it, for now.
